About the event

Join us for dinner on Friday, May 16th at The Barn at Lone Oaks Farm! We’re thrilled to welcome back Chef Aaron Holt of Catering by Doolittle Farm, an award-winning talent known for beautifully showcasing local flavors. Chef Holt’s impressive accolades include being named the 2018 Iowa Restaurant Association Chef of the Year, earning the 2019 Morsel Combat People’s Choice Award, and winning the 2022 Taste of Elegance Award. Most recently, he received the Best Use of Local Ingredients Award from Choose Iowa and took first place in the Iowa Restaurant Association’s Beef Competition.


The Menu:


Greeting course: assortment of passed appetizers

Starter: homemade sourdough focaccia / Simple Life Farm goat cheese / marinated tomatoes / pickled veggies / balsamic pearls 

Third: spring pork belly / carrot-maple puree / charred Brussels slaw / bacon jam 

Main: Iowa wagyu beef / confit potatoes / crispy leeks / Iowa gravy / garden harvest vegetables 

Dessert: caramelized brown butter cake / mulberry coulis / honey / homemade granola / lemon whip / berry dust / edible flower 


While we do not provide alcohol, you are welcome to bring your own beverages to enjoy. Suggested wine pairings will be shared with you prior to the dinner.


Individual tickets are $150 each, or purchase a table of 8 for $1,100 (discounted by $100).


About Catering by Doolittle Farm:


The Doolittle Farm is a 61 acre Iowa century farm located in Story City, Iowa. The farm was established in 1905 by Chef Aaron’s great-grandparents on his mothers side, William and May Doolittle.   


In 2018 Aaron took over ownership of the property and started growing produce to support his chef career. He now operates Catering by Doolittle Farm, a farm to table catering and personal chef business.   


Aaron’s goal is to turn his families farm back into what it was over 100 years ago. The type of farm our great grandparents would recognize. Practicing “Regenerative Agriculture” and working to provide a sustainable food future. Catering by Doolittle Farm takes the best of what Iowa has to offer and provides memorable and delicious dining experiences.
