Join us for a late-summer evening at The Barn at Lone Oaks Farm. On Saturday, September 12th, we’re pleased to welcome back Chef Aaron Holt of Catering by Doolittle Farm for a thoughtfully prepared farm-to-table dinner celebrating Iowa’s harvest.

Chef Holt is known for his close relationships with local farmers and his ability to let beautiful, seasonal ingredients speak for themselves. His work has been recognized with numerous honors, including Iowa Restaurant Association Chef of the Year, multiple culinary competition awards, and recent recognition for exceptional use of local ingredients. We’re always grateful for the care and creativity he brings to our table.

The Menu:

Welcome: Assortment of passed appetizers

Starter: Salad / organic Leafy Dreams mixed greens / honey-citrus vinaigrette / dried cranberries and cherries / toasted sunflower seeds / shaved apple / Iowa goat cheese / toasted focaccia

Second: Compressed Iowa pork belly / fall squash and corn chowder / crispy root vegetable chips / microgreens

Main: Deconstructed Beef Wellington / Iowa beef / local mushroom duxelles / prosciutto crumble / spinach velouté / puff pastry / whipped potatoes / glazed carrots / demi-glace

Dessert: Caramel apple crisp / vanilla bean ice cream / oat granola crumble / cider reduction / edible flowers

While we do not provide alcohol, you are welcome to bring your own beverages to enjoy. Suggested wine pairings will be shared in advance.

Catering by Doolittle Farm is based on a 61-acre Iowa century farm near Story City, first established in 1905 by Chef Aaron Holt’s great-grandparents. Today, the farm is cared for with an emphasis on regenerative practices and sustainability, supporting Chef Holt’s farm-to-table approach and his commitment to showcasing the best of Iowa’s local ingredients.
